Requirements

What’s required to dash? You must be 18 years old, have an iPhone or Android smartphone, and volunteer your social security number. 

Are there vehicle requirements for driving? No! You can use any car to deliver. Just have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and a clean driving record. 

Are other vehicles besides cars allowed?  Depending on your local market, you may be able to use motorcycles, scooters, bikes, or even walk in some markets. See the list of vehicle types at "Info On Your City".

Insurance

Does DoorDash have insurance? Yes, DoorDash has a commercial auto insurance policy that covers up to $1,000,000 in bodily injury and/or property damage to third parties arising out of accidents while on an active delivery. To qualify as “on an active delivery” you must be in possession of the goods to be delivered. More information is available here.

Do I need my own insurance? Yes, while doing business as an independent contractor, you are required to maintain your own insurance, in the amounts and of types required by law which includes, but is not limited to, an auto insurance policy. If you fail to maintain your own insurance, DoorDash's coverage may not apply.
